I am writing to express my interest in a Woodworker position at your company.
I am originally from Cyprus and have been living in the Netherlands for nearly two years. While I have a background in
Accounting and Finance, with approximately four years of experience in the field, I feel the need to transition into a more hands on and creative career.
In my spare time, I enjoy working on DIY projects, from sketching to refinishing wooden furniture. I also love finding old items at kringloops and giving them a makeover. Initially, I watched DIY videos for guidance, but I quickly realized that I learn most effectively through hands-on experience. By diving into tasks and learning by doing, I easily grasp new concepts and continuously improve. Back in Cyprus, in my hometown of Kiti, I volunteered in the project Allospos that aimed to engage local youth by creating a collaborative graffiti mural. In the end, the ideas of all the children were combined into a large, meaningful piece on a big wall. This hands-on experience not only strengthened my teamwork abilities but also allowed me to actively contribute to the creative growth of others.
At that point in my life, I realized I wanted to turn my hobbies into my career. To pursue this passion, I enrolled in a wooden
furniture-making workshop at Buurman in Rotterdam, marking the first step in my journey toward a career in woodworking. As I transition, I’m eager to apply my learning-by-doing mindset, gaining new skills through real-world practice and contributing to the team as I grow. My background in accounting and finance assures you that I am accurate, punctual, and have a keen eye for detail.
There are two things I am seeking in a team but have yet to find: I want to be part of a team that challenges me to push beyond my limits, and I hope to be inspired by my teammates while having my own ideas respected.
Thank you for considering my application and I am looking forward to hear from you soon.
Kind regards,
Kyriakos Kleanthous
